FPV video or standard drone video: what is the difference?

A standard drone stays outside and above: calm, wide shots with a clear overview. An FPV drone flies inside, between machines and up the stairs. Both use drones, but the experience is completely different.

In brief

A standard drone video usually shows a location from the outside, with calm, wide shots that show its setting and scale. An FPV video flies through and around the location, including indoors. Choose a standard drone for a clear overview. Choose FPV when you want people to feel the movement and connection between spaces.

When is a standard drone enough?

The standard drone video is the right choice when the location, grounds, buildings or scale are best shown from above. Think of a business site, a construction project or several buildings in one location. These shots create a calm, clear overview, which is exactly what these situations need.

When do you need FPV?

The FPV drone video is the right choice when viewers need to experience movement and connection, rather than simply see them. The route links spaces, departments and activities. This works well for a factory or warehouse, as well as for a workshop or school: places that need to be experienced from the inside.

Side by side

Standard drone video

  • Mainly shows the building and its surroundings
  • Calm, wide shots
  • Shows the location and scale
  • Works well for grounds and outdoor areas

FPV video

  • Movement through and around the location
  • A dynamic, smooth route
  • Shows the connection between spaces and activities
  • Works well for indoor spaces and processes

What about combining them?

Good to know: Outdoor shots can first show the location and its surroundings, before an FPV route takes viewers inside. This works well, but we only recommend it when both views add real value.
