For Johannes Fontanus College in Barneveld, we created an extensive online open day. Pupils and parents can explore the school themselves and watch short videos about subjects and programmes at many points along the route.
Choose where to explore
A school has many different spaces. At a regular open day, visitors walk past classrooms, outdoor areas and practical teaching rooms. This tour offers the same freedom. Visitors can look around at their own pace or use the menu to go straight to a department.
The route includes the media library, assembly halls, lockers, sports hall, art rooms, music rooms, Technasium and various learning areas. This gives prospective pupils a much more complete picture than a short video or a series of photographs.

Videos within the school
Short information videos are available at several points. Pupils made these green-screen videos themselves. We then placed them in the 360-degree environment, exactly where they add useful information to the tour.
The videos can be updated or replaced from time to time without remaking the entire virtual tour. This keeps the information current and gives visitors explanations when they are relevant.
An open day that is always available
We provided the on-site photography, built the complete route and added the videos. The tour opens through a regular link on a computer, tablet or phone.
The tour was important when an in-person open day was difficult to organise, and remains useful afterwards. Pupils can revisit the school from home, while family members can explore whenever it suits them.
Why this approach works
- Pupils and parents choose which classrooms and learning areas to explore.
- Pupils’ videos provide explanations within the school environment.
- The videos can be updated without rebuilding the whole tour.
Let pupils introduce their school
A classroom means more when a pupil explains it. Combining the spaces with their own videos makes this online open day more than a tour of the building.
