How to add a virtual tour to your website
On its own page, on an existing service page or behind a button: there are several good ways to add a virtual tour to your website. The best option depends on what you want to achieve.
In brief
You can add a virtual tour to its own page, include it on an existing page or open it from a button. Zien360 supplies all the files and links you need. Your web developer will usually handle the rest. If that is not possible, we will help you.
Three good places for a tour
On its own page
Do visitors need to explore a location such as a factory, school or new branch? Give the tour its own page, with enough space and a short explanation of what people can see and who it is for.
On an existing page
Does the tour fit an existing page about a service, location, course or vacancy? Add it there. For recruitment, place it alongside the vacancies. You can also read how to use a virtual tour for recruitment for recruitment. For customers, a tour often fits best with information about a production process or showroom.
Behind a button
Sometimes it is better to open the tour from a clear button instead of showing it straight away. This keeps the page tidy and gives the tour enough space when someone chooses to explore.
Who adds the tour to the website?
In practice, your web developer or website manager will add it. We supply the files and information and answer their questions.
No web developer available, or having trouble adding the tour? We can help. We will discuss what the website needs and who will handle each step.
Does the tour need to be hosted on the same server as the website?
No. You can host the tour yourself, or Zien360 can host it for you. In both cases, it will appear on your company website.
Good to know: We discuss in advance which option best suits your website, the way it is managed and how you expect the tour to be used.
Four things that make a difference
- Enough space on the page.
A tour loses its impact when it is squeezed into a small area. Give the controls enough room to work.
- Does it work on mobile?
Always test the page on a phone and tablet. Website buttons and menus must not block the tour controls.
- A short introduction.
One or two sentences about what visitors will see, such as a production site or new branch, immediately explain why the tour is relevant.
- A logical place on the website.
Do not hide the tour at the bottom of a general page. Put it where customers, candidates or visitors expect to find it.
Can you change it later?
Yes. You can change where the tour appears on the website, and we can update the tour itself later, including text, images, videos and links.
Has the location been renovated or does part of it look different? We will check which new images are needed, without having to recreate the whole tour.
Can you add Google Street View as well?
Yes. Google Street View and your own virtual tour serve different purposes. Street View makes a location visible through Google, while your own tour gives you control over the route, style and extra information. Read more in virtual tour or Google Street View.
