Look at the same space on board
Revisit the situation on board.
A technical discussion often starts by establishing which location you mean. A virtual tour of a vessel lets the shipyard, owner and colleagues ashore open the same recorded space. You can look around and see where an installation or passageway is located.

The Damen case study explains why a vessel can be captured for later discussions. We describe the brief and its use; the confidential tour remains private.

Damen: a visual reference of the vessel
For Damen Shipyards, we created virtual records that allow those involved to revisit the situation on board. The images preserve the relationship between technical spaces, installations and passageways. People can return to the location that needs discussing.
The Damen images remain private. The case study explains the application; access to the confidential tour is restricted. For your project, we agree in advance who will use the images and which spaces and information may be captured.
Open a space during planning and technical discussions
Before a visit, a team may need to review the layout. Which spaces are next to each other? Which passageway leads to an installation? A virtual record provides a visual starting point for that discussion. Everyone can identify the same visible component.
An earlier recording can also be useful after handover. A colleague on board and a specialist ashore can open the same space during their conversation. When carrying out work, they use current technical drawings, manuals and procedures. The images provide the spatial context captured at the time of photography.
Choose which parts of the vessel to capture
An overview for a project meeting requires different coverage from documentation of a particular technical space. Start with the questions the images need to answer. We then select the decks, rooms and camera positions. A detail photograph may be needed alongside a panorama when a label or component requires closer attention.
If you want explanations, documents or links at particular locations, tell us what information is already available and who checks it. We discuss which additions suit the images. The proposed content determines the production work and time required.
Plan photography around access and ongoing work
Agree which construction or maintenance stage should be recorded. If components will later be covered, the timing determines what remains visible in the images. With your contact on board, we discuss access, lighting, available time and the supervision required for photography.
Also establish which work continues and which spaces will be available. A route across several decks needs coordination with the people working there. We discuss confidential documents, screens and people who may appear before photography begins. You appoint someone to check the selection and final content.
Keep the capture date, intended use and updates connected
A vessel changes during construction, maintenance and operation. Agree how users will recognise when a space was recorded and which vessel the images show. Following alterations, we determine which camera positions need new images and how earlier recordings remain identifiable.
Sharing is part of the plan too. Who needs to open the tour, from which environment and for how long? We assess the requested access and set out the chosen placement, hosting and any updates in the proposal. These arrangements matter when several organisations work on the same vessel.
A proposal for your vessel or shipyard
Alongside Damen, our maritime work includes projects for Neptune Construction on different vessels and in several ports, including IJmuiden. We have also worked for Dok en Scheepsbouw Woudsend B.V. For your brief, we discuss which spaces, users and recording stages matter.
Pricing depends on factors including the vessel’s size, selected spaces, access and preparation, photography and interactive production. Include the vessel or shipyard, intended use, required spaces and preferred schedule in your request for a price estimate. This gives us the information to prepare a suitable photography plan and proposal.
